The Ceylon Brewery was the first brewery established in Sri Lanka. It was established in 1849 by Sir Samuel Baker as a cottage industry, catering for the British colonial tea plantations in the hill country retreat of Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya was the ideal location for a brewery, with its cool climate and natural spring water.
The attractive labelling is in sophisticated black and gold, showcasing our strong but watchful golden lion as the king of the savannah, symbolising visionary leadership and power.
